*The Container Project Returns to Geneva!*

Last February, we built a container simulating the experience of captivity in Hamas tunnels in Gaza. The exhibit attracted significant attention, with many UN ambassadors and diplomats attending.

Following its success, the container went on a European tour, visiting Brussels in front of the European Parliament, Luxembourg, Bern, Berlin, and more. Additionally, a similar container was built in the U.S., displayed in Washington and Boston.

Now, to mark the one-year anniversary of October 7th, the container returns to Geneva and will be displayed at Place des Nations on October 6th from 11:00 to 18:00 and on October 7th from 10:00 to 17:00.

*Everyone is invited to attend, show support, and experience the exhibit.*

252 hostages, including a 7-month-old infant and many children, 1400 murdered

October 11, Place des Nations

At Place des Nations on October 11, 2023, our association supported a rally in solidarity with the Israeli population, following the massacres committed on October 7.

Tribute was paid to the victims and hostages of the monstrosity perpetrated by Hamas on thousands of innocent civilians.
Ambassadors Meirav Eilon Shahar, Israel’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Ifat Reshef, Israel’s Ambassador to Berne, delivered poignant speeches on the inhuman and unimaginable massacres committed during the Hamas incursion on Israeli soil.

This incursion resulted in the deaths of at least 1,200 people, including many young civilians of all nationalities who had come to celebrate the Supernova Festival for Peace. The number of wounded has risen to over 3,500, not to mention the more than 240 civilian hostages still being held by Hamas.

Hamas is committing war crimes and unimaginable violations of international law in all its forms.

Conference 24 May 2023

Dear Members and Sympathisers,

We are delighted to inform you that on 24 May 2023 European Lawyers for Israel, ELFI, had the opportunity to take part in a round table titled the Abraham Accords : “Where Do We Go From Here ?”

The event took place at Maison du Luxembourg in Brussels, hosted by the Euro-Gulf Information Center, EGIF, a StratEGIC Dinner Discussion.. It focused on the achievements, opportunities and challenges of the Abraham Accords, given the rapid changes to the wider Middle East.

The roundtable hosted a variety of stakeholders and experts who fleshed out new ideas related to the possible future state of affairs of the region, looking for ways to help promote regional cooperation and achieve durable peace.

All participants were optimistic that peace in the Middle East can exist, that there has already been considerable progress and that talking about stability in the region seems to have become the focal point of the Abraham Accords.

It is important to understand the significance of peace in the Middle East and the long-term prospects for the possible emergence of this region as a stable and prosperous place..

A great deal has been achieved to date thanks to these agreements, which celebrate their third anniversary this year.

Some of the main topics raised during the discussion were :

– The need for continued dialogue among the Abraham Accords countries to enhance mutual understanding,

– The formation of a new regional security framework involving the Abraham Accords countries (e.g. Negev Forum, which was launched for the first time on 27 and 28 March 2022 in Sdé Boker, in the Negev desert in Israel. Its aim is to promote relations between Israel, the Middle East and Europe, encouraging cooperation and exchanges between these regions).,

– Opportunities for cooperation in various areas, such as education, culture, agriculture, security and innovative technologies,

– Local public opinion regarding the Accords/Israel and the role of media in shaping it,

– The shift in Saudi Arabia’s diplomacy and the impact of the rapproachement between Saudi Arabia and Iran,

– The role of Iran and Qatar as potential spoilers,

– The role of external actors, such as the US, China and Russia,

– The lack of European and EU support of the Accords.

This round table was an outstanding experience, and today we would like to share this good news with you.

We were able to discover many beneficial aspects of these Agreements that could be relevant to our association, members and sympathisers.
